Are you interested in the history of the National Square Dance Convention®?
Would you like to try and find yourself, a friend, or a relative in a Program Book from a past convention?
Did you know that many conventions have developed a customized belt buckle commemorating their event and its theme?
Are you interested in looking at the colorful badges provided for dancers at previous National Conventions?
Have you ever wondered about the “green suits” that were worn for many years by members of the National Square Dance Convention National Executive Committee?
The NEC Archives Room is a “must” place to visit if you would like to “take a walk” through the history of the National Square Dance Convention® during your convention experience. The Archives Room displays include:
A copy of the Program Book from each previous National Convention, all the way back to the very first convention! The books have been deconstructed and put into plastic notebook sleeves, so you can make a copy of any pages of interest!
A display of the commemorative belt buckles and convention badges from prior National Conventions.
A handmade quilt featuring the signatures of many callers from the 1970s.
The famous/infamous “green suits” worn by National Executive Committee members for many years. This new display includes a ladies outfit in the designated green fabric along with a man’s green suit (from Butch and Ampie Hayes, Chairman of the 55th National Square Dance Convention® held in San Antonio in 2006).
A Mascot Reunion! The 73rd Herd will be hosting a display of the mascots from many previous National Conventions!
